About the position

The ESY Teacher position requires a Special Education Certification and is focused on maximizing the learning experience of students with special needs. The program runs Monday to Thursday on specified dates in June and July. The teacher will work under the supervision of the School Principal to implement district-approved curriculum, document student progress, and address specific needs of students. The role involves conducting assessments, developing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), and coordinating with various stakeholders to support students' educational experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning issues.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Assist students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEPs and behavior management plans.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and organizations as needed.
  • Serve as a resource to students and parents for counseling and support.
  • Organize and maintain accurate record-keeping for student information.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education.
  • Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
  • Promote a safe and conducive classroom environment for learning.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and modify instructional methods as needed.
  • Integrate technology into daily instruction.
  • Supervise students in activities outside the classroom.

Requirements

  • State Certification as a Special Education and Elementary School Teacher.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, and methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, fingerprints, pre-employment drug screening, and TB test.

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels preferred.
