About The Position

The ESY Summer School Coordinator will plan and oversee the daily operations of the ESY summer programs for Ansonia Public Schools in 2025. The program will take place at multiple locations within the district, with coordinator hours from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or until the last child is delivered home.

Requirements

  • Connecticut Administrator Certificate (092) or in program working toward 092

Responsibilities

  • Determine staffing needs
  • Identify and select courses based upon student IEP
  • Interview and hire summer school teaching staff
  • Prepare summer school program letter of invitation for student distribution
  • Solicit recommendations from schools for placement in summer school
  • Determine and order classroom materials prior to the start of school
  • Coordinate with the Director of Facilities, Department of Food Services, and the summer school nurse
  • Coordinate training and support for teachers in preparation for the ESY program
  • Work with the school bus company to determine bus routes for the ESY program, including IEP requirements and notify parents
  • Coordinate room usage
  • Serve as principal liaison with ESY students, families, and district administration
  • Supervise special education staff and programs
  • Handle all discipline cases in accordance with the District Student Handbook
  • Conduct parent conferences and phone calls as needed
  • Manage the daily operation of ESY (e.g., attendance, transportation, instructional concerns)
  • Maintain all necessary records regarding student performance
  • Supervise student interns
  • Plan and conduct orientation in June prior to the start of the program
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings if necessary during program hours
  • Design duty schedules for staff
  • Sign time sheets for staff
  • Evaluate and write an ESY report regarding enrollment, attendance, student performance/issues, budget, etc. by August 1
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Programs and Director of Special Education
  • Return all summer school materials and supplies to specified location at the close of the program
