About The Position

Needham Public Schools is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm Special Education Teacher (Post-Graduate Program) to join our team. To enhance our goals of supporting every child, Needham Public Schools seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Monday to Thursday, 8:30 to 12:30 from July 6th to August 6th (additional prep time provided) About Needham Public Schools (NPS): NPS has a deep commitment to the success of our diverse students and families and to the professional accomplishments of its educators. Provide individualized curriculum content and instruction in functional academics for students based on their IEP goals Work as part of a team with a Transition Specialist, teaching assistants, and related service providers to provide comprehensive programming to each student Experience in a post-graduate program with students who have significant and complex needs is preferred Communicate with families, colleagues, and outside agencies Attend IEP meetings, write current performance levels and goals Data collection and progress reporting in IEP goal areas Other duties as needed

Requirements

  • MA DESE certification in Moderate Special Needs at the appropriate grade level
  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Special Education.
  • Candidates with experience using the Wilson Reading System preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized curriculum content and instruction in functional academics for students based on their IEP goals
  • Work as part of a team with a Transition Specialist, teaching assistants, and related service providers to provide comprehensive programming to each student
  • Communicate with families, colleagues, and outside agencies
