About The Position

8G Solutions is a rapidly growing full-service glazing contractor looking to add top talent to its ranks. The Estimator will report directly to the Vice-President of Business Development and will be responsible for collecting and analyzing material, labor, and equipment costs, preparing estimates for commercial glazing projects. The desired candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of commercial glazing Estimator or equal experience and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products. To be successful in this role, you must be an analytical thinker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Requirements

  • Expertise with the glazing trade and installation methods of most glazing systems, including storefront, curtain wall, window wall, doors, and hardware.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, a related field, or 5 years equivalent experience.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills and highly detail oriented
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update estimates on multiple projects concurrently
  • Develop standards for labor, material and equipment estimates
  • Develop, review, and enter final estimates into company database for all projects
  • Review scope documents and confirm specifications
  • Perform custom estimates for prospective projects with custom scopes and designs
  • Review project documentation to gain a full understanding of the project requirements
  • Collect and analyze data by assembling proposals, drawings, specs and related documents
  • Attend project site walks and conduct site analysis and pre-bid for improved project understanding
  • Collaborate with project management team on change orders and ensuring all costs are up to date
  • Assist business development team with qualifying clients
  • Attend pre-bid or team scope meetings to understand the complete scope of work required
  • Locate, notify, and send bid information to subcontractors and vendors for quotations on outsourced work
  • Evaluate bids of subcontractors and vendors for completeness of scope of work, schedule, compliance with specifications, or other bid requirements
  • Understand glazing systems and basic engineering concepts
