About The Position

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Review and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates. Quantify materials, equipment, and labor for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes. Prepare detailed and organized estimate breakdowns, cost summaries, and pricing sheets. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as required. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify scope and design intent. Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize cost and performance. Monitor market trends and pricing to maintain competitive estimates. Maintain a database of historical cost data and unit prices. Support post-bid project handoff to the construction team, including clarifying scope and transferring documentation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of MEP estimating experience in commercial construction. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and construction methodologies. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble/Accubid, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar). Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications. Familiarity with local building codes, permitting, and construction industry standards. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PREFERRED SKILLS: Experience with design-build or design-assist projects. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling). LEED or other sustainability certification knowledge is a plus. Experience with cost modeling and budgeting for early-stage project development. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily office-based with occasional travel to job sites and pre-bid walkthroughs. Fast-paced environment with deadlines and project milestones.
