About The Position
Thomas Construction Group is seeking an Estimator to join our innovative team in Raleigh, NC. As a full-service general contractor, we pride ourselves on achieving 100% client satisfaction and specialize in early design phase construction management for various sectors, including corporate commercial, healthcare, senior living, multi-family, and continuing care facilities. The Estimator will play a crucial role in our preconstruction process, reporting directly to the Preconstruction Director. In this position, you will be responsible for providing accurate project estimates by evaluating bid specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents. Your expertise will ensure that we submit competitive bids and secure project wins. You will prepare timely quantitative and cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and requests for proposals (RFPs). Understanding contract language, consumer expectations, and the scope of each project will be essential in your role. Collaboration is key; you will consult with architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss estimates, identify effective cost reductions, and address constructability issues. You will also be responsible for distributing and coordinating plans and specifications, ensuring that all requirements are managed appropriately. Selecting and managing subcontractors throughout the preconstruction process will be part of your duties, as will assessing the cost-effectiveness of products and services as projects develop. You will track actual costs relative to bids and compare them to historical pricing and internal evaluations. Additionally, you will develop scope sheets for bid leveling and act as the liaison between all contracted parties involved in a project. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
