About The Position

AFO is looking for an Estimator/Planner to work in US Air Force Academy, CO. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! As an Estimator/Planner, the successful applicant will provide planning, estimating, design review support, contract oversight, and systems management with a primary focus ability to accomplish planning/estimating in support of engineering design, all trades, and the Facility, Infrastructure and Heavy Repair Shops. The employee will work alongside engineers, other planners, shop supervisors and trade experts to define maintenance and repair requirements plans to include performing site visits, review of work as well as accomplishing single line drawings and detailed cost estimates (with material/man-hour breakouts). The employee will work under direction of the Portfolio Optimization Manager to provide administrative and operational support for all Civil Engineer work centers to ensure that contractual and regulatory compliance and system integrity is maintained.

Requirements

  • Experience can be substituted for a Bachelor's degree in the Building or Engineering trades.
  • Ability to conduct field investigations to obtain data and develop scope or detailed cost estimates.
  • Experience in supporting design, development, and implementation of engineering projects.
  • Ability to coordinate small project design and construction scope and scheduling with customers.
  • Ability to establish specific tasks, schedules, and performance measurement criteria.
  • Proficiency in using RS Means, cost works, or local market survey information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide planning, estimating, design review support, contract oversight, and systems management.
  • Accomplish planning/estimating in support of engineering design, all trades, and the Facility, Infrastructure and Heavy Repair Shops.
  • Work alongside engineers, planners, shop supervisors, and trade experts to define maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Perform site visits and review work.
  • Accomplish single line drawings and detailed cost estimates with material/man-hour breakouts.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for all Civil Engineer work centers.
  • Conduct field investigations to obtain data and develop scope or detailed cost estimates for maintenance, repair, and alteration of facilities/infrastructure.
  • Support design, development, and implementation of engineering projects.
  • Coordinate small project design and construction scope and scheduling with customers.
  • Establish specific tasks, schedules, and performance measurement criteria for the program.
  • Use RS Means, cost works, or local market survey information to develop labor and material cost estimates.
  • Provide operational information for Akima Facilities Operations management when requested.
  • Develop and manage small out-sourced service requests in support of CE Operations.
  • Maintain written database records as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with Akima Facilities Operations contract.
