YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY: The Estimating Manager manages a group of estimators to ensure all assigned estimates are complete and meet all expectations. Under the direction of the Chief Estimator, the Estimating Manager is responsible for planning, preparing, and completing bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects, with a primary responsibility of mentoring a team of direct reports. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Establish project objectives, procedures, and deliverables. Prepare the estimate from quantity take-off on the project and complete the estimate to computer printout. Contribute to the overall technical strategy based on the reviews of the front-end documents and work with senior estimators to establish an execution plan to meet the project objectives, procedures, and deliverables. Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues and identify parts of the project that may be key to making a competitive estimate and evaluate possible areas for potential value engineering cost savings. Review and approve proposal specifications, and drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate. Provide direction to direct reports and ensure processes and procedures are followed and met. Review labor productivity and (installation unit costs where applicable) based on projected site conditions and historical data. Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specs. Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents. Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects. Provide the Chief Estimator and/or Operations with a detailed review of the scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package. After the successful bid at project turnover, meet with the project management team to fully explain the job scope, potential areas of attention, and other aspects for the successful transition of the project. Formally train and supervise Estimators and Sr. Estimators in the company procedures and systems. Set goals and provides feedback based upon performance objectives.
