About The Position

The Estimator IV is responsible for preparing and coordinating estimates for plumbing and mechanical commercial construction projects. This role involves evaluating bid requests, preparing pricing and budgets, and building professional relationships with clients to support long-term business growth. The Estimator IV also mentors junior estimating staff and ensures the accuracy and completeness of estimates.

Requirements

• 8+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and expertise
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, and procedure manuals
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with estimating techniques and cost control
• Ability to perform detailed labor and material take-offs
• Detail oriented and able to manage multiple ongoing projects
• Well versed in the industry and the company's competitors
• Excellent multitasking skills

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Estimation software is strongly encouraged

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate bid requests
• Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of pricing
• Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy
• Review project documents and understand scope of work as well as identify any potential pricing gaps
• Execute material and project documents
• Input take-offs into computer spreadsheet and review completeness
• Obtain bids from subcontractors and vendors and strategize on creating a competitive edge
• Prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs
• Generate estimates where predetermined standards are not available
• Inform immediate supervisor of any inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or database
• Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, and government requirements
• Develop relationships with customers for better bid-day communication
• Assist Business Development with procurement strategies and attend sales activities
• Attend and participate in project scope review meetings
• Photocopy documents and plans
