About the position

AECOM's Estimating Group is seeking an Estimator III - Water/Wastewater supporting our diverse slate of projects and engineering estimate efforts. This position can be performed remotely, provided residency is currently within the continental United States. The Estimator III will provide cost estimating support for our Water/Wastewater, Environmental, Transportation and Energy estimating efforts. Estimates will vary from AECOM Estimate Classification Level 1-5 (conceptual to hard bid). Including detailed take-off, cost estimating, construction methodology, tact and approach, determination of crewing and productivity, proposal schedule generation, subcontractor/vendor solicitation and coordination, scope development, evaluation/comparison, bid day spreadsheets, bid report preparation, constructability reviews, value engineering. Travel to pre-bids and site visits. Type of Projects: Water/Wastewater, Environmental projects, such as Environmental Remediation, Soil Stabilization, Landfill, Groundwater Treatment, Soil Vapor Extraction, Slurry walls, UXO. Works with the Company estimating systems and processes. Applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles. Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact the project estimates and begin to assist in quantifying the impact. Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects. Performs duties with some complexity under general supervision. Expected to assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments including the Estimate Plan. Develops wage rate build-ups. Reads and interprets drawings and specifications. Develops detailed material take-offs for estimate development and field procurement of bulk materials. Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed take-offs and cost estimating.
  • Develop construction methodology, tact and approach.
  • Determine crewing and productivity.
  • Generate proposal schedules.
  • Solicit and coordinate with subcontractors/vendors.
  • Develop scope and evaluate/comparison of bids.
  • Prepare bid day spreadsheets and bid reports.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and value engineering.
  • Travel to pre-bids and site visits.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Construction Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience in estimating projects from $200k to $100M.
  • Experience in environmental, heavy civil, structural, mechanical and electrical projects.
  • Proficiency in Sage Timberline Estimating, Bluebeam or Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-7 years Construction/Environmental experience with 5 years estimating.
  • Field experience and contracting experience.
  • Ability to communicate, organize and manage multiple estimates.
  • Organized, self-starter with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work individually or in teams.
  • Proficiency in Primavera SureTrak, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project.
