The Estimator II prepares timely and accurate bid estimates for medium to large sized projects/programs within an assigned line of business, Region or Division and helps plan all projects with expectations for the efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials and subcontractors within contract requirements, time guidelines and other restrictions. The Estimator II will fully understand the major business components and implications specific to estimating and cost control for Construction Companies while ensuring compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology and upholding H&M safety and quality management protocols.

Requirements

  • Experience in estimating mid-scale projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices.
  • Experience with computerized bidding software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Completion of H&M PMM training and some formal Project Management coursework.
  • Complex problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum Educational Background: BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 5+.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and maintenance of bid documentation.
  • Traveling to job locations to confirm project site conditions.
  • Leading bid strategy and presentation discussions.
  • Monitoring awarded contracts for extra work items, procurement of material, credits, etc.
  • Assisting field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders to scope as needed.
  • Ensuring bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements are met.
  • Identifying and suggesting solutions for known or anticipated construction problems to minimize cost and reduce risk.
  • Providing insight to thought leadership in the continuous improvement of methodology, tools and approaches using fundamentals of H&M Project Management practices.
  • Interfacing with various internal and external stakeholders on planning and scheduling related items and functions.
  • Communicating with influence and presenting effectively to client group and team members.
