About The Position

The Estimator I is an entry-level role designed to support Earth Tech Enterprises’ estimating and preconstruction efforts for site development, earthwork, utilities, and heavy civil projects. This position combines foundational estimating responsibilities with drone operations to support quantity takeoffs, site analysis, progress documentation, and data collection. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, and eager to build a career in heavy civil construction while contributing to innovative estimating practices. This role works closely with Estimators, Project Managers and Operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry-level experience or education in construction management, civil engineering, surveying, GIS, or a related field.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and site development concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related field.
  • Internship or field experience in heavy civil, site development, or surveying.
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar).
  • Experience with drone mapping, photogrammetry, or volume calculations.
  • Familiarity with GPS, survey data, or CAD-based takeoff tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior estimators with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid preparation.
  • Review plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to understand project scope.
  • Perform earthwork, utility, and site quantity calculations using plans and digital models.
  • Compile subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Support bid documentation, bid day logistics, and proposal assembly.
  • Operate company drones for aerial photography, videography, and data capture.
  • Collect site imagery to support quantity verification, site analysis, and pre-bid evaluations.
  • Assist with drone-based mapping, stockpile measurements, and progress documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Part 107 requirements and company drone policies.
  • Maintain drone equipment, flight logs, and data organization.
  • Organize estimating data, takeoff files, and project records.
  • Assist with post-bid reviews and historical cost tracking.
  • Prepare basic reports, exhibits, and visual aids using drone imagery and takeoff data.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
  • Work closely with Estimating, Operations, and Project Management teams.
  • Participate in pre-bid site walks and internal bid review meetings.
  • Learn Earth Tech’s production methods, equipment capabilities, and cost structures.
  • Uphold company safety standards, values, and professional conduct.
