About The Position
Mortenson is currently seeking an Estimator-Civil who will play a crucial role in the project estimation process. This position is responsible for gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce accurate project estimates. For smaller projects, the Estimator-Civil will also prepare the full estimate, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accounted for. The role requires a strong focus on organization, flexibility, and outstanding customer service, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. The Estimator-Civil will be involved in various tasks, including creating project estimates, completing quantity takeoffs, and summing up materials required for the projects. This position will also solicit trade partners to obtain bid estimates and time projections, which are essential for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets. Additionally, the Estimator-Civil will assist in preparing, organizing, and coordinating Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and schedules, utilizing schedule information to estimate General Contractor's and other schedule-driven items. Another key responsibility is determining all pricing options and selecting the appropriate price for the project. The Estimator-Civil will support the lead estimator in data input into estimating software programs, perform archive filing, and gather historical cost data. Participation in plan and estimate review meetings, project review meetings, and site investigations is also expected as needed. Furthermore, the Estimator-Civil will support the lead estimator in gathering information from local government and private entities that may affect the project, such as permits and hearings. The role may also involve managing the Addendum log and documents from customers or clients, providing direction to new estimators and engineers as they join the team, and soliciting new bidders when necessary. Training may be provided to other estimators and interns, contributing to the development of the team and ensuring a high standard of work.
