About The Position

We are seeking a strategic Estimator to join our Sacramento team- a detail-oriented professional who thrives on precision, collaboration and delivering impactful results. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical expertise and relationship-building skills, developing accurate and competitive cost estimates while partnering closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to influence project outcomes, support bid strategies and contribute to the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, business administration, or equivalent related work experience.
  • 5 years of estimating experience preferred- public or private.
  • Ability to manage and produce multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.) and Primavera Scheduling software.
  • Strong working knowledge of estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods and principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate with internal and external personnel of all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, especially in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships through effective collaboration.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking, with the ability to anticipate challenges and plan accordingly.
  • Collaborative, adaptable and responsive with a timely mindset.
  • Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experieince as a Project Manager/Engineer and/or take-off, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review specifications, drawings, and project site conditions to develop accurate estimates.
  • Analyze and build estimate data related to labor, materials, equipment, location and other cost factors.
  • Apply mathematical calculations to ensure accuracy of estimated costs.
  • Utilize historical cost data as a benchmarking tool.
  • Review quantity take-offs to verify accuracy of estimate inputs.
  • Analyze alternative construction methods and approaches to improve bid competitiveness.
  • Evaluate projects risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential construction challenges.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and scope details.
  • Present estimate/proposal to management for review and validation.
  • Communicate bid information and project scope to field operations during pre-construction meetings.
