About The Position

Rycon Construction is seeking an Estimator/Estimating Assistant for our Washington D.C. office. The successful candidate will be responsible for calculating quantity take offs and estimating costs and conceptual budgets for construction projects. This role involves researching and forecasting material, labor, and equipment pricing, as well as participating in data gathering to support market condition research. The Estimator/Estimating Assistant will also enter calculated and researched data into specific cost estimating software programs, create scopes of work and bid packages, assist the estimating team with data conversions and analysis, and respond to inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience estimating commercial interior renovation, tenant improvement, and/or fit out projects up to $5 million preferred.
• Experience with quantity take-offs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and through email.
• Must have the ability to read drawings and interpret specifications.
• Computer skills required – Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Knowledge of Washington D.C. market preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Calculate quantity take offs and estimate costs and conceptual budgets for estimating construction projects.
• Research and forecast material, labor, and equipment pricing for cost estimating projects.
• Participate in gathering of data to support market condition research, including construction economic trends, current projects, contractor's availability and skill sets, and labor force.
• Enter calculated and researched data into computer utilizing specific cost estimating software programs.
• Create scopes of work and bid packages of multiple trades to ensure nothing is missed for the project team.
• Assist the estimating team with data conversions and analysis of cost estimating efforts in a format that is easily understandable.
• Respond to common inquiries or issues from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business and general community.
