About The Position

Forest Electric NY is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., and one of the largest commercial electrical contracting company in New York City. We are proud of our position as a leading single-source electrical construction & telecommunications services supplier for the New York City & New Jersey metropolitan area, with expertise in data center infrastructure, network design, structured cabling and electrical system design/build, installation and maintenance. The Electrical Estimator will assist the company in meeting its goals and objectives by performing take-off and pricing for various project types and sizes to acquire new work. The Electrical Estimator may also assist project management as it relates to certain projects and will partner with other employees.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years experience working with an electrical contractor.
  • An Engineering Degree from an accredited College or University desired.
  • Competence/experience in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills while collaborating with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of ConEst estimating software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and specifications and prepare detailed estimates, including assigning material and labor values to take-off.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs of electrical and low/medium voltage systems.
  • Acquire vendor pricing on specialty materials, equipment and lighting systems for electrical and low/medium voltage systems.
  • Partner with others including Engineers to develop meaningful estimates with details and pricing review.
  • Ensure estimates are in compliance with the relevant electrical codes and regulations.
  • Prepare, maintain and present computer generated spreadsheets, logs and reports.
  • Prepare and manage communications internally and with general contractors or construction managers and follow up on assigned estimates and obtain feedback.
  • Attend scope review and/or project walk-through meetings for bidding purposes.
  • Assist with presentations to clients.
  • Maintain regular communication and collaboration with other staff members.
  • Participate in project turnover to Project Management and field workforce.
  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.
