About The Position

At Gothic Landscape, the Estimator Designer in the enhancement department within the Maintenance Division is responsible for preparing estimates and proposals for landscape renovation and installation projects. This involves reviewing and analyzing the scope of work and project requirements to ensure all needs can be met. The position is based in Riverside and requires local travel within the Inland Empire Area (San Bernardino, Riverside, Lake Elsinore), with a company-paid take-home vehicle provided for travel to project sites. Requirements

  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Creative and practical abilities to assemble plant palettes, design basic irrigation retrofits, provide professional advisement to clients and colleagues.
  • Strong work ethic, solid time management skills & possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment & able to meet moving/changing deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • An AA or BA college degree.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years landscape construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Meet on site and/or virtually with clients and colleagues to understand project expectations.
  • Assess needs and site conditions and provide professional advice to determine final scope of work, including advising on plants, basic horticulture needs, common landscape materials, drainage, and basic irrigation design.
  • Develop presentations (design renderings and/or proposals) to communicate scope of work.
  • Gather, calculate and compile site data and/or take-off data to prepare project estimates, to include material quantities, production rates, site specific logistics, and understanding of crews abilities.
  • Utilize standard estimating software to include MS office Excel to prepare routine estimates as well as detailed cost estimates for projects under the supervision of the Inland Empire Branch Managers.
  • Research, evaluate, create and maintain current & accurate pricing information & quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Design, estimate and proposal generation, to include but not limited to: Tenant improvements (entries, monuments, courtyards, amenity areas), Turf conversion designs and proposals, budgets and phasing strategies, Resolve minor issues with drainage, paving, retaining walls, etc., Design imaging, ROI calculations.
  • Procurement of plants, materials and rental equipment.
  • Supplier/vendor management to include negotiations and inventory & quality control.
  • Project coordination for successful execution of approved projects, hand-off to install team.
  • Coordination with current landscape designers to understand current practices and develop current systems.
  • Collaboration with Branch and Account Managers to target approved budgets and pipeline revenue streams, which includes: Attending team meetings at select branches, Developing client budgets.
