About The Position

voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation is seeking a motivated and analytical Estimator / Cost Engineer to join our growing Solutions & Development team. Whether you’re early in your career or a seasoned manufacturing cost expert, we want to hear from you. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting new business growth by developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for custom roll-formed products. You’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other internal teams to ensure every quote reflects sound technical and financial analysis.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing or roll forming cost estimating
  • Understanding of production processes, tooling, material flow, and manufacturing standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and comfort using technical data.
  • Experience with CRM (Salesforce preferred) and ERP/MRP systems (Global Shop Solutions preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or CATIA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Associate degree in a technical field OR equivalent training/experience.
  • Must meet ITAR/EAR requirements as a U.S. Person.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer RFQ requirements, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, tooling, equipment, overhead, quality, and outside services.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, cycle times, and capacity needs.
  • Partner with Sales and Business Development during customer reviews and technical discussions.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance, and others.
  • Prepare clear and accurate cost summaries and documentation for management review.
  • Maintain historical cost data and support improvements to estimating tools and processes.
  • Evaluate process feasibility and risks for new products.
  • Support estimating “specials” and unique customer requests.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced teammates.
  • Optimize manufacturing methods to reduce cost, improve quality, and enhance productivity.
  • Identify and document CAPEX requirements.
  • Lead training and development for others on estimating practices.
