About The Position

Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for any discipline. Perform take-offs on systems, material and equipment according to applicable project plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Accubid or similar estimating software
  • Working knowledge of multiple disciplines, estimating techniques and cost control
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
  • Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines
  • High school degree or equivalent; some technical training or advanced education preferred
  • At least 5 years estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to electrical construction

Responsibilities

  • Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work, using FastPIPE or FastDUCT or McCormick and/or ConEst(Intellibid) estimating software.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
  • For electrical, perform at a minimum Estimator 1 take-off items and estimating take-off for switchgear, distribution, cable tray, UPS/PDU, emergency generators/ATS and associated feeders.
  • Ensure accuracy and applicability of data in final project files.
  • Support other department personnel as required; may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
  • May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • May provide support to field operations regarding mechanical estimates.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
  • Implement pricing updates and version updates to estimating software.
  • Provide assistance in the utilization of estimating software and collaborate with Training to facilitate training for others.
