About The Position

The Estimating Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the business units Estimating team ensuring compliance with company policy, challenges, competitiveness, document bid profitability, final review and approvals of estimate packages and providing document error-checking. In addition, they are responsible for managing the proposal process from receipt to submittal and providing guidance and input to the proposal team throughout that process. This role also includes administering operating budgets, staffing, work assignments, salary, and performance reviews and will also support and administer all department standards and procedures. Our company’s Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division offers a comprehensive range of electrical services, including transmission, distribution, substation and clean energy construction. We are experienced in delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure solutions to meet the growing demands of the power and utility industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Previous experience as a lead or senior level Estimator
  • 10+ years of experience within the construction industry

  • Ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, electrical, mechanics, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals, and other relevant documents

Responsibilities

  • Take on leadership functions within the business unit's estimating and proposal development teams
  • Review and evaluate estimates as required by company bid policy
  • Oversee Bid Review Policy compliance, including bid review scheduling, executive compliance, & documentation
  • Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates
  • Develop and maintain cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates, major material costs as well as design and engineering costs
  • Work with engineering and construction teams to develop cost-effective conceptual designs that provide cost-effective solutions while meeting the customers specifications
  • Manage the RFP process from start to finish
  • Document internal reporting of bids and proposals
  • Lead the proposal effort on major projects, working with both internal and external resources to pull together comprehensive proposals
  • Advise staff MYR Policy Expectations
  • Lead, direct, and audit the work of assigned staff, act as a mentor to staff and estimator trainees
  • Perform employee annual performance reviews
  • Approve employee expenses, weekly time, and requests for time off
  • Other duties as assigned
