About The Position

The Estimating Associate I role is focused on providing cost estimates to support procurement activities for construction, facility maintenance, facility solutions (i.e., commissioning, operation readiness, MEP coordination), and low voltage construction contracts. This position will provide cost estimating support during the planning, design and post construction phases of projects for design optimization and value engineering studies, life cycle cost analyses and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Facilities Management, Mechanical, Electrical or MEP / Construction Management, Engineering
  • Possess good communications skills and be detail oriented.
  • Communicate complex issues effectively in written and oral presentation to clients.
  • Must be able to function as part of a high-performance team.
  • Strong working knowledge of facilities operations and building systems.
  • Software proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Project, Word, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, document and optimize facilities processes.
  • Critical thinking
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has a good understanding of the critical facility environment, including hospitals, airports and data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand the basis of design program information, plans and specifications for major/complex projects, including low voltage and technology-based projects.
  • Work with technical and subject matter experts to prepare estimates and pricing data in accordance with company guidelines and philosophies.
  • Prepare and evaluate a thorough take-off of quantities for scope of work and completeness for all business units.
  • Research and collect input from multiple internal and external resources.
  • Analyze the data and develop a competitive bid estimate.
  • Conduct final analysis of the finished product for overall accuracy and enhancing deliverables.
  • Clearly communicate project risk to trade partners and Hensel Phelps’ management.
  • Develop, coordinate and communicate clear scopes of work to the trade partners
  • Understand trade partner/supplier relationships to support the ongoing success of Hensel Phelps.
  • Assist with the purchasing process for both trade partners and suppliers.
  • Present cost estimates to company stakeholders and lead review discussions.
  • Execute win strategy developed by leadership
