Supervisor – Vibration & Environmental Testing Position Profile As the Engineering Technician Supervisor – Vibration & Environmental Testing , you will provide technical leadership and day-to-day supervision for a team of Engineering Technicians supporting vibration and thermal testing activities. This role is hands-on and lab-based, combining deep technical expertise with responsibility for team performance, safety, quality, scheduling, and continuous improvement. You will oversee the setup, execution, troubleshooting, and documentation of vibration and thermal tests across a wide range of Marotta products, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and quality standards. In partnership with Engineering, Quality, and A&T teams, you will support acceptance testing of production-level components, drive improvements in test methods and fixturing, and develop technicians through training and mentoring. Environmental testing is a critical step in verifying workmanship, assembly integrity, and product performance. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate test execution, clear communication of results, and timely resolution of test failures in a fast-paced lab environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical certification preferred)
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of mechanical vibrations and/or heat transfer principles
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring technicians in a lab or manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with technicians, engineers, and management
  • Proficiency with MS Office and basic PC skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily lab operations for vibration and thermal testing activities
  • Oversee operation of Electrodynamic Vibration and Thermal systems to validate manufacturing quality and dynamic performance of valves, power electronics, and control actuation systems
  • Review and approve test setups, programs, and results to ensure alignment with written requirements
  • Support the design, integration, and validation of new test fixtures and test equipment
  • Apply advanced understanding of dynamic concepts to assist in troubleshooting and analysis of product behavior
  • Lead root cause investigations for test failures and ensure proper documentation and follow-up
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to Engineering Technicians
  • Train technicians on test equipment operation, safety practices, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Assign work, balance workload, and ensure coverage to meet testing schedules and production demands
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the lab
  • Ensure all testing is documented accurately and completely
  • Notify Quality of test failures and actively participate in corrective and preventive action efforts
  • Verify compliance with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures
  • Identify routing discrepancies and coordinate updates with appropriate stakeholders
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to improve test methods, fixturing, and lab efficiency
  • Champion Lean initiatives and document improvement ideas that enhance safety, quality, or throughput
  • Support maintenance and repair of testing equipment and ensure timely escalation of equipment issues
  • Enforce adherence to all safety, quality, maintenance, and company policies
  • Lead or actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives, and cross-functional reviews
  • Maintain a clean, secure, and well-organized lab environment
  • Keep management informed of lab performance, capacity constraints, and significant issues
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
