Esports Coordinator
About The Position
The Esports Coordinator is responsible for developing, launching, and growing the YMCA of Central New Mexico’s Esports program. This includes recruiting participants, overseeing general operations, coaching and supervision, scheduling league play, managing program identity, and maintaining equipment. The Esports Coordinator will work closely with Youth & Sports leadership to ensure the program aligns with YMCA values and strategic priorities. This position requires flexibility, including evenings and weekends. As a youth-serving organization, all staff share responsibility to keep children safe. This position requires adherence to the YMCA of Central New Mexico Youth Protection Policy for Personnel and Volunteers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of competitive Esports experience involving team-based multiplayer games.
- Strong working knowledge of Rocket League, Fortnite, Madden, NBA 2K, League of Legends, and other age-appropriate titles.
- Coaching, mentoring, or teaching experience preferred.
- Experience working with youth in structured programs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and creativity.
- Reliable transportation if travel is required.

Responsibilities
- Recruit and retain youth participants for the YMCA Esports program.
- Develop and implement structured practices, competitions, and team-building activities.
- Establish league schedules, practice calendars, and seasonal programming.
- Provide leadership in game selection and competition structure.
- Oversee equipment setup, maintenance, upgrades, and inventory.
- Coordinate league play, tournaments, and potential travel as needed.
- Organize camps, clinics, and promotional events to grow participation.
- Promote healthy gaming habits and balance through wellness discussions and movement integration.
- Monitor and support the academic, social, and emotional well-being of participants.
- Assist in identifying sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with YMCA policies, league rules, and safety standards.
- Represent and model the YMCA mission and core values in all program operations.
