MSD seeks an exceptional English as a Second Language (ESOL) teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who are committed to serving in high-needs schools. Job Summary: This teaching position serves English learners (ELs) from various cultural and linguistic back ground. Students receive instruction in English using a sheltered-instruction approach to deliver grade-level academic content. This position does require a flexible service delivery schedule; to include both direct instruction for targeted groups of students in a small group setting (i.e., "pull-out" ) and also integration of services within traditional classroom settings (i.e., "push-in").

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
• Requirements as set by the State of New Hampshire Certification Authorities and Board of School Committee regulations.
• State of NH Teacher Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL - 0607) or other approved certification status may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, and in harmony with these goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, to communicate these objectives to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis to provide progress reports as required.
• Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of or making referrals.
