An Extensive Support Needs (ESN) Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver provides direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual & developmental, and physical disabilities. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect. Requirements

• Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical.
• Experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges.
• Patient, with good decision making and crisis management skills.
• Dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
• Observant and detail oriented.
• Positive role-model for others and able to work on a team.
• Committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Computer skills for documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Successful clearance of a criminal background check for licensing requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals we serve.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene and more.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.
• Build relationships with persons served and teammates.
• Attend special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events.
• Transport persons served to appointments or other activities outside the home.
• Empower people with disabilities to live life to the fullest.
• Document progress, milestones, and action steps.
