About The Position

The position involves providing instruction to assist students in meeting their education and career goals, which may include GED attainment, Non-Traditional High School Diploma, English language acquisition, workforce preparation, career pathways, and integrated education and training. The instructor will plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that foster a positive learning environment. Responsibilities include administering assessments to evaluate adult learners, maintaining student records, and developing individualized Plans of Instruction (POI). The role also requires the use of blended learning models and contextualized instruction, as well as participation in professional development and compliance with institutional guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited College.
  • Experience in teaching (preferred).
  • Experience working with adult learners (preferred).
  • Experience with diverse populations (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to assist students in meeting their education and career goals.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Administer assessments to evaluate and place adult learners in appropriate educational levels.
  • Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources for diverse student needs.
  • Maintain student records according to local, State, and Federal guidelines.
  • Submit required records to the local adult education administrative office.
  • Communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and program participants as needed.
  • Develop a Plan of Instruction (POI) for each adult learner.
  • Demonstrate gains in student performance.
  • Provide blended learning models and contextualized instruction.
  • Meet established class performance goals.
  • Learn and use new instructional technology and virtual learning platforms.
  • Assist with career interest inventory and advising of program participants.
  • Complete employee time and effort reports in a timely manner.
  • Represent the College and Adult Education Program professionally.
  • Participate in meetings, activities, and professional development related to the Adult Education Program.
  • Comply with guidelines and policies set by the Alabama Community College System and Northwest Shoals Community College.
