About The Position

Faculty are responsible for developing lectures, demonstrations, assignments, and enrichment activities to successfully deliver course content in their academic unit. Faculty will teach coursework in various specialties. They will maintain regular office hours for advising students and participate in events and initiatives aimed at meeting departmental and divisional recruitment and retention goals. Faculty are expected to accept assignments on committees, sponsor student activities, and actively participate in University life. Additionally, they will support the institution's Christian mission, including attendance at chapel services, scheduled or called meetings, commencement programs, and Faculty Forum meetings. Faculty are to provide a Christian role model for students and maintain a strong interest in the pursuit of knowledge, sharing it with students and scholars. They will promote the discipline on and off campus and attract students to the field, maintain contact with alumni and the community, and participate in academic unit meetings while cooperating with other members of the Faculty. Faculty will identify with professional organizations and professionals of the discipline at all educational levels, assist in recruiting new Faculty members within the academic unit, and assist the Dean in the preparation of class schedules and material for the University Bulletin Catalog. They should know the Library holdings and deficiencies and plan improvements based on budget allocations. Faculty will assist in developing syllabi for courses in the discipline, prepare requests for foundation grants, and assist students by continually monitoring and evaluating their progress, making appropriate referrals to academic and personal support services as necessary to meet student needs. Finally, they are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and serve as academic advisors.
