KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE: Strategic sustainability leader and technical expertise to advance and meet sustainability goals. Lead GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, TCFD, CSRD, GRI, ISO 14001, SB 253, SB 2601, WAIRE, and various carbon accounting and environmental reporting frameworks wherever SEKO locations and partners wherever located as the subject matter expert. Execute short-term projects, maintain long-term sustainability vision, consistent with the mission, values, and SEKO’s operating principles. Establish and measure SEKO’s global carbon footprint to combat climate change. Develop and or identify resources and tools to successfully measure carbon emissions and submit reports. Lead audit reports on resource (ie. energy, water, etc.) consumption across global operations Lead and facilitate cross-functional initiatives in the development and implementation of programs within each facility to identify decarbonization opportunities and reduce their carbon footprint within SEKO’s sustainability efforts. Collaborate closely with SEKO offices, verticals, strategic partners, compliance team members, external consultants, prospective acquisitions or divestitures, and C-suite executive leadership teams to develop and execute roadmaps. Implement reporting metrics and tools to enable SEKO to manage and track all sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPI) across all locations and the overall business; provide regular performance updates to management. Reporting will include the value of sustainability performance to business results. Collaborate to determine and manage the sustainability budgets, financial impact, and capital investment with regional and/or global finance teams as required. Support the development of sustainability programs for key customers to align with their respective corporate/regional objectives. Develop and implement ESG sustainability compliance policies, procedures, and training. Prepares, in collaboration with management, and publishes SEKO’s annual sustainability report. Lead external partnerships with SEKO suppliers to champion sustainability projects. Serve as SEKO representative or ensure appropriate team members are allocated to sustainability initiatives, including the Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG), Sustainable Air Freight Alliance (SAFA), and others as required. Collaborate with the communications team to develop a strategy for taking the sustainability message to external audiences, including customers, communities, media, and industry. Act as and support company spokesperson on sustainability with clients, media, and industry. Champion SEKO’s Core Values. Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Comply with instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures. Co-operate with management in fulfilment of its legislative obligations. Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of local, regional, global carbon accounting, emission reduction, and environmental reporting frameworks.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various PC based software.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, and effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
  • Possesses the ability to lead, inspire, build consensus, and work collaboratively across all functions of a global organization
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; strong organizational and administrative skills, including time management, multi-tasking, and project management
  • A team player: demonstrated ability to establish rapport, trust, and effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communications, presentations, policies, procedures, guidelines.
  • Demonstrates initiative and strong customer service orientation.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Minimum Advanced degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in sustainability or related fields

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment and/or global strategic partner network is a plus
  • Experience with multimodal logistics operations is a plus
