About The Position

The Assistant Site Supervisor at Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation is responsible for facilitating Extended School Enrichment programs, holiday break camps, and summer camp series. This role includes overseeing part-time staff and ensuring the safety and engagement of up to 200 children aged 5-15. The position requires effective communication with parents and guardians, administrative duties, and compliance with safety regulations. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 6:30 PM.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience working with youth.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certified or able to acquire certification within 30 days of orientation.
  • CPI certified within 90 days of orientation and maintain certification.
  • Obtain Stewards of Children and QPR certification within 6 months of orientation and maintain certification.
  • Ability to utilize ActiveNet, EZChildTrack, or current software system for program functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff.
  • Ability to assess participants and varying situations and act accordingly.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices in planning and implementing programs.
  • Good knowledge of equipment and materials required for programs.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in child care or recreational program supervision.
  • Skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with state standards for educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise up to 200 children throughout daily programs to ensure engagement and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to established safety procedures and monitor the work environment.
  • Plan and prepare site-specific programs for Extended School Enrichment, School's Out, and Summer Camp Series.
  • Supervise part-time staff for the programs.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and provide assistance as needed.
  • Input participant data and payments for programs daily.
  • Monitor inventory levels of program supplies and initiate orders for replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, laws, and regulations related to recreation programs.
  • Keep files organized and up to date.
  • Handle discipline cases involving program participants and report as appropriate.
  • Disseminate information about programs and events to the public.
  • Respond to telephone calls and inquiries professionally.
  • Create and facilitate daily enrichment and academic activities.
  • Model and guide students in character development.
  • Assist in creating detailed activity plans that correspond to state standards.
  • Maintain respect for all spaces and materials used during programs.
  • Attend professional development meetings and trainings.
  • Use excellent customer service skills to maintain effective relationships with the public and staff.
  • Enforce applicable rules and regulations with program participants.
  • Ensure first aid supplies and emergency equipment are accessible.
