About The Position

The Environmental Services Supervisor leads and coordinates all housekeeping and environmental cleaning functions to ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role manages daily workflows, enforces regulatory standards, and fosters a team culture of excellence and accountability within a rural hospital setting. The Environmental Services Supervisor reports directly to Director of Facilities.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year in commercial or healthcare cleaning operations preferred.
  • At least one year in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission.
  • Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives.
  • Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole.
  • Works to resolves conflicts constructively and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day environmental services operations, including patient rooms, public areas, and support areas.
  • Schedule, train, coach, and evaluate Environmental Services department staff.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules; recruit, train, coach, and evaluate environmental services employees.
  • Implement and monitor cleaning protocols in accordance with infection-control policies, Joint Commission standards, and regulations
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to verify cleanliness, address deficiencies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, personal protective equipment, and equipment; coordinate reorders and vendor relationships
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and repairs of floor machines, carpet extractors, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Collaborate with nursing, facilities, and infection-prevention teams during patient surges, outbreaks, or emergency events.
  • Prepare monthly performance metrics, and staffing justifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
