About The Position

SkyView Academy is committed to preparing students to be life-long learners and honorable leaders of tomorrow. SkyView Academy offers a research-based, content-rich liberal arts program committed to foreign language studies and community service. Staff, parents, and students are actively involved in a culture of expectation and support where individuals are respected, valued, and known by the content of their character. The Literacy Specialist will provide classroom literacy support and help to ensure the educational development of the students in elementary school. All teachers will be responsible for the adoption of the school mission and vision as evidenced through thoughtful lesson planning aligned with the school’s curriculum components (i.e. Core Knowledge). In addition, teachers will show a commitment to furthering their own professional development and building relationships with families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, with Elementary endorsement; license preferred
  • Strong literacy training and experience in the application of best practices in early/emergent strategies
  • Proficient in the use of technology
  • Proven ability to integrate special needs children and modify and/or adapt curriculum
  • Good diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and record-keeping
  • Teaching License - Colorado Department of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Masters of Reading or Endorsement in elementary reading preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide literacy classroom support to a variety of grade levels
  • Collaborate with the literacy team to assist teachers with reading instruction and intervention
  • Collaborate with the literacy team to help implement effective reading instruction for the primary, elementary, and middle school program
  • Work with Tier 2 students to provide effective reading interventions
  • Effectively teach comprehension and decoding skills
  • Administration and oversight of DIBELS and progress monitoring
  • Demonstrated proficiency in fulfilling READ Act requirements
  • Communicate proactively with other staff, students, and parents
  • Participate in school-wide professional development as well as continuing education
  • Other duties as assigned.
