About The Position

As an ERSEA Assistant, you'll support the success of our Head Start program by helping ensure the right families are enrolled, supported, and ready to thrive. Working under the guidance of the ERSEA Coordinator and ERSEA Manager, you'll oversee and monitor program-wide activities related to Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance (ERSEA)-all essential parts of ensuring children receive high-quality early education and family services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
  • Candidates must pass a background check, drug/alcohol screening, and required registry checks and meet all Head Start health requirements.
  • Some travel may be required for training, outreach, and home visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Family Services, Social Services, or a related field
  • Bilingual skills common to Head Start families
  • Previous Head Start experience

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor ERSEA processes in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and program policies.
  • Ensure funded enrollment levels are maintained year-round through careful tracking and reporting.
  • Review and process applications, determine eligibility, and verify selection criteria for new and returning families.
  • Maintain accurate records in the program's information system (ChildPlus) and generate reports for program leadership.
  • Monitor documentation and ensure compliance with Federal Poverty Guidelines and requirements related to children with disabilities and over-income families.
  • Work with programs such as Child Care Subsidy, TANF, SSI, SNAP, Foster Care, and McKinney-Vento when determining eligibility.
  • Participate in community outreach and recruitment, building strong relationships with partner agencies to reach families most in need.
  • Help train staff, community partners, and parents on ERSEA policies and procedures.
  • Stay current with professional development, trainings, and program updates.
  • You may also specialize in areas such as Attendance, Eligibility, Recruitment, or Monitoring.
