About The Position

In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. Tank work on this assignment consists of the erection of all plate steel and appurtenances for the LNG tanks. Field Engineer must ensure Safe work practices and conditions at worksite. Ensure all Erection-works (materials, method & workmanship) comply with contract and design requirements. Liaise with the customer and ensure that customer nominated inspection points are met. Assist with the coordination and compilation of the Manufactures Data Report. General Inspection on all tank erection works.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction methods, sequence, and processes for plate steel erection.
  • Knowledge of LNG Tank works including, internal concrete layers, precast concrete bearing ring, bottom and wall insulation, outer tank carbon steel liner and inner tank erection, tank top installation works and tank wall external structures.
  • Interaction with Sub-Contractors and Direct Hire Workforce.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's SWPPs (Standard Work Process Procedures).
  • Experience with Microstation or AutoCad or the ability to understand, interpret, and create 2D drawings.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to work with multi-national employees and across different languages.
  • Ability to train up team members and provide mentorship to others.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
