ER Veterinary Technician, AVS
About The Position
Advanced Veterinary Specialists is seeking a full-time day/swing shift Veterinary Technician to join the ER team. Duties and responsibilities you may own in this role: Triage and prioritize incoming patients Stabilize patients in critical condition Assist with diagnostic procedures Administer medications and fluids Provide wound care and post-surgical support Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities Assist during surgeries and emergency procedures Communicate with pet owners Maintain accurate medical records Ensure cleanliness and sanitization Educate pet owners on aftercare Collaborate with the veterinary team Stay updated through continuing education Offer compassion and emotional support to patients and owners.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry required, ER experience preferred
- Current and valid RVT license in the state of CA is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
- Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
- Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)
- Weekend flexibility is required
- Available shifts: 5:30am-3:30pm 12:00pm-10:00pm
Responsibilities
