Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • One year satisfactory experience as a Nurse's Aide in a hospital or prior EMT experience preferred
  • Good communication skills/speaks and writes clearly
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • The Emergency Department Technician performs approved activities related to patient care and the functioning of the Emergency Department.
  • Adheres to Mercy Medical Center/department policies and procedures and JCAHO/regulatory agency requirements.
  • Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times.
  • Delivers direct care to patients and creates a safe comfortable environment.
  • Assist with selected procedures associated with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
  • Documentation in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Assists with transfer of patient to a bed, wheelchair or stretcher utilizing patient care equipment safely as needed
  • Performs and maintains competencies related to EKG's, glucose testing and phlebotomy
  • Participates in customer service activities
