Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting the charge nurse and/or primary nurse with patient care throughout the department as assigned
  • Assists and coordinates the immediate off-load of patients arriving via EMS with the primary nurse and/or charge nurse
  • Collaborates with the primary nurse to assist in the implementation of appropriate physician orders to expedite patient care
  • Obtains specimens within a timely manner of arrival
  • Promptly notifies the physician and/or primary nurse of untoward changes in a patient's condition
  • Monitors cardiac/telemetry status and vital functions of all patients
  • Demonstrates competency of EKG's and cardiac monitoring
  • Performs the role as assigned during ACLS protocols
  • Assists with the replenishing of crash cart supplies and other essential equipment
  • Proficient in the use and maintenance of emergency equipment
  • Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice as a CNA or EMT
  • Documents treatment and administered care proficiently in the electronic medical record
  • Documentation compliant with established policies and procedures
  • Performs as a Unit Liaison
  • Demonstrates skills to include but not limited to physician communication, maintaining electronic logs, EMS radio support, and coordinating patient transports
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols
  • Maintains professionalism in a fast-paced environment and exhibits an attitude of teamwork
  • Follows 'Always The Best' guideline

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language
  • Performs basic skills completely to include but not limited to: patient transport, EKGs, telemetry monitoring, intake & output, vital signs, specimen/culture collection, phlebotomy, dressing applications, oxygen administration via simple airway management (nasal cannula or mask), personal hygiene assistance, chest tube set-up, splint applications, blood glucose monitoring, and foley catheter placement.
