Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Research Assistant to join our team! The Research Assistant will perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and administration of investigative protocol. Must maintain a high degree of attention to detail and accurate records. Must provide good customer service in all forms of patient interaction. Must follow established protocols and procedures with exacting precision.

  • Interview subjects to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Record subjects' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Transfer and organize data gathered from paper formats via computer, recorders, or scanners.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Explain clinical trial procedures, processes, protocols, or physicians' instructions to subjects.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Collect blood, saliva, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
  • Greet and escort subjects to examination rooms and prepare them for their visit.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking notes, or completing medical information forms.
  • Prepare and administer investigative protocol (IP) as directed by a physician.
  • Schedule appointments for subjects and oversee appointments being scheduled for subjects.
  • Assist clinical research coordinators with inventory.
  • Contact medical facilities or departments to obtain medical records.
  • Assist clinical research coordinators to set up medical laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all clinical trial protocols and Good Clinical Practices (GCPs).
  • May oversee studies and follow procedures per protocols.
  • Must be able to learn and understand study protocols and procedures.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent or higher.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Experience working in a doctor's office or other medical office.
  • Experience with office equipment and medical equipment used to obtain vitals.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; bilingual is a plus.
  • Must understand medical terminology.
  • General math skills.
  • Ability to regularly and consistently make sound judgments.
  • Must be organized, attentive to details, and a critical thinker.
  • Good communication skills and able to collaborate with others.
