Cherry County Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Emergency Department (ED) team. This provider will be responsible for delivering a full range of emergency medical services in our ED and contributing to a high standard of patient care. This position requires collaboration with physicians, other advanced practice providers (APPs), and hospital staff to ensure quality care and effective patient flow.   • Provide emergency medical care to patients in the ED, ensuring comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Maintain a 24/7/365 coverage schedule for the ED in coordination with other employed PAs.
  • Required to work an average of 10 twenty-four-hour shifts per month, totaling 120 shifts annually.
  • Primary ER call coverage of approximately 10 days per month, with an average of 9 patients per day.
  • Participate in fair shift scheduling, with primary ER call typically lasting 3-5 days at a time. MDs provide secondary call coverage, with a CRNA on standby for anesthesia needs.
  • Keep accurate medical records in compliance with hospital policies and state law.
  • Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA privacy standards, and hospital policies.
  • Maintain proper licensure, certifications, and medical staff privileges as required by the hospital.
  • Maintain registration to prescribe medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration, staff, and other providers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and compliance initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, and hospital staff to provide high-quality care.
  • Shifts: Required to work an average of 10 twenty-four-hour shifts per month, with flexible scheduling to ensure 24/7 ED coverage.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): 240 hours annually, with no rollover into the next year. PTO requests must be coordinated with other providers for coverage.
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current NCCPA certification or APRN licensure.
  • Licensed to practice as a PA-C or APRN in Nebraska.
  • Valid DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Must apply for and obtain Medical Staff Privileges at the hospital.
  • Prior experience in emergency medicine is required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Surgical experience (assisting in cesarean sections or other procedures) is a plus.
