About The Position

As an ER Nurse at CHI St Vincent Infirmary, the role involves being the initial point of contact for community members during health emergencies. This dynamic position requires quick reactions and multitasking to prioritize patients based on medical necessity while providing emergency triage. The ER Nurse collaborates with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care, including procedures like IV starts, foley catheter insertions, and assisting with chest tube insertions. Success in this role demands teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking, and a willingness to engage in additional projects such as patient experience initiatives, alongside an energetic and motivated approach to providing quality, dignified patient care.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered license to practice in the State of Arkansas
  • 6 months of acute care experience is required
  • BLS through the American Heart Association is required
  • ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are required for Emergency Department

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ER experience is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge or admit patients
  • Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient’s condition as needed
  • Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs
  • Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patient's condition
  • Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes, such as patient experience initiatives, mentoring, etc.
