About The Position

At MercyOne, health care is focused on improving the health of communities, not only when sick but also in maintaining wellness. MercyOne Dyersville Medical Center is a 20-bed critical access hospital located in Dyersville, Iowa, a town known for its small-town charm, excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and local attractions like the Field of Dreams movie site. The medical center serves 17 rural communities in western Dubuque county and is a Level IV Community Trauma Care Facility. It provides 24/7 emergency and trauma services, acute and skilled inpatient care, ambulatory surgery, home care, specialty clinics, a fully equipped laboratory, imaging services, a retail pharmacy, and Phase II cardiac rehabilitation. Outpatient and inpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy are also available. As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. This role involves utilizing evidence-based practice and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care for a diverse patient population, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. The RN supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members, and facilitates communication with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing required
  • Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessment
  • Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
  • Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed
  • Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
  • Demonstrates clinical competence
  • Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
  • Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior
