About The Position

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is a new, state-of-the-art facility that opened in May 2024—an expansive, 100,000+ square foot space nearly twice the size of our original Tinton Falls location. This milestone marks the continuation of over 40 years of dedicated service to our community. Equipped with advanced diagnostics like MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and a PET scanner, the hospital features 52 exam rooms, 12 surgical suites, a dedicated emergency department, and expanded training spaces. Thoughtful amenities—including feline-only waiting areas, a rehab unit, comfort rooms, and a serene zen garden—reflect our commitment to exceptional care for pets and their families. We are seeking a Mid Shift Emergency/Critical Care Veterinary Technician who is personable, self-motivated, and a strong communicator with excellent organizational skills. In this role, you will assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating closely with all departments across the hospital.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience working as a nursing team member in a veterinary hospital is required.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Nice To Haves

  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT).
  • Prior experience working in an Emergency Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels.
  • Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients.
  • Provide history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients.
  • Work with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans and/or hospitalize the patient.
  • Communicate medical updates, financial, and treatment plans to owners.
  • Monitor patient status: vitals, mentation, pain score.
  • Perform nursing procedures: phlebotomy, IVC/IVF therapy, cystocentesis, urinary catheter care, medication administration (oral, topical, injectable), restraint, in- and out-patient care, abdominocentesis/thoracocentesis/pericardiocentesis, oxygen cage operation, transfusion therapy, PICC line care, recumbent patient care, feeding and sampling line care.
  • Recognize CPA & initiate CPR.
  • Maintain record keeping, equipment operation, stocking and cleaning, aftercare.
