About The Position

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is a new, state-of-the-art facility that opened in May 2024—an expansive, 100,000+ square foot space nearly twice the size of our original Tinton Falls location. Equipped with advanced diagnostics like MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and a PET scanner, the hospital features 52 exam rooms, 12 surgical suites, a dedicated emergency department, and expanded training spaces. We are seeking a Mid Shift Emergency/Critical Care Veterinary Technician who is personable, self-motivated, and a strong communicator with excellent organizational skills. In this role, you will assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating closely with all departments across the hospital.

Requirements

• Three years of experience working as a nursing team member in a veterinary hospital is required.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Nice To Haves

• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT).
• Prior experience working in an Emergency Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels.
• Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients.
• Provide history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients.
• Work with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans and/or hospitalize the patient.
• Communicate medical updates, financial, and treatment plans to owners.
• Monitor patient status: vitals, mentation, pain score.
• Perform nursing procedures: phlebotomy, IVC/IVF therapy, cystocentesis, urinary catheter care, medication administration (oral, topical, injectable), restraint, in- and out-patient care, abdominocentesis/thoracocentesis/pericardiocentesis, oxygen cage operation, transfusion therapy, PICC line care, recumbent patient care, feeding and sampling line care.
• Recognize CPA & initiate CPR.
• Maintain record keeping, equipment operation, stocking and cleaning, aftercare.
