About The Position

Employer : Guggenheim Securities, LLC Title : Equity Research VP – IT, Payments and Business Information Services Location : 330 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10017 Duties : Conduct quantitative analyses of information involving financial data of public institutions, including valuation of businesses. Conduct fundamental bottom-up research, including but not limited to, analyzing disclosures and financial reports of public companies, and conducting due diligence on companies’ products, sales and marketing models, and competitive landscape. Aggregate and synthesize data on IT Services, Payments and Business Information Services industry trends. Actively monitor market news, macro trends, and stock performance of covered companies. Regularly draft reports recapping companies’ earnings results, relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news. Build and maintain detailed financial models, including discounted cash flow, SOTP, and comparable company analysis models. Interact with the Firm’s institutional sales force and investor clients and respond to inquiries regarding research findings and directives. Regularly update analyst marketing decks. Periodically assist with survey design and collection, web-scraping, due diligence calls, and channel checks. Attend industry events, represent the Firm in a professional manner, and recap event highlights in timely fashion. Assist with investor outreach, research distribution lists, occasional firm-hosted events, and contribute to collectively managed team calendar. Collate differentiated data points through primary research (e.g., with industry experts). Generate actionable investment ideas within relevant covered sectors. Cultivate and maintain relationships with investor clients and corporate management teams. Position is expected to report to New York, NY office at least 4 days per week.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field plus six (6) years of experience as an Equity Research VP or a related investment banking occupation with a specific focus on equity research in the IT, payments, or business information services sector.
  • Experience may be gained concurrently and must include: Six (6) years in each of the following: Working with large data sets and reporting by leveraging statistics and advanced analytics platforms (Tableau, PowerBI, or Alteryx) to generate insights Utilizing Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, FactSet, and Bloomberg.
  • Five (5) years in each of the following: Modeling companies using GAAP, adjusted or IFRS regulatory accounting figures to produce multi-year financials forecasts, including quarterly cash flows, balance sheets, and income statements Performing due diligence on companies, including generating and managing financial and operational diligence requests, leading site visits of company premises and operations, discussing diligence questions with management and employees, and performing detailed analysis of financial and regulatory information.
  • Three (3) years in the following: Researching and analyzing operating subsidiary and parent holding companies’ overall situations, financial performance, capital structure, credit strength, and liquidity conditions by using databases including Bloomberg and FactSet.
  • Required Licenses: Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination) Series 86 (Research Analyst) Series 87 (Research Analyst)
