We are seeking two Equity Research Associates to join our Softlines Retail team. The associates will work closely with the senior analyst to develop and market all equity research products. Both roles require strong analytical / critical thinking skills, a passion for the stock market, keen attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. The work environment involves collaboration, co-ordination and a shared knowledge base with the analyst and rest of the team but equally values independence, initiative, idea generation and a sense of ownership for the work.
Ideally, our team will consist of two associates: a Senior Associate who has 1-2 years of equity research experience, prior industry knowledge, and the requisite research licenses (SIE, Series 7, 63, 86, 87); and an Associate who has strong technical skills and is eager to join an equity research team (licenses or prior experience for the second associate is a plus, but not required).

Requirements

• A combination of writing skills, technical knowledge and skills in equity research, finance or accounting demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience is required.
• Candidates must have a clear and proven track record of achievement throughout their education and career.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• A keen interest in and demonstrated understanding of Equity Research
• A positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, the ability to learn quickly and strong attention to detail
• Superior work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work independently
• Ability to systematically manage a heavy work load and meet stringent deadlines
• Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours
• Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg and/or FactSet
• Demonstrated use of AI in the workplace
• Bachelor’s degree is required.

Nice To Haves

• Prior industry experience in the consumer industry is not required but could be a benefit.
• CFA is a plus
• A post-secondary degree in a related field of study is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining detailed company models (IS/BS/CF)
• Analyzing financial statements, company filings (10-K, 10-Q, earnings releases), company transcripts, and news related to industry coverage
• Conducting store and channel checks
• Writing equity research reports and over time, formulating investment theses
• Participation in site visits and management meetings
• Maintaining and analyzing industry data
• Communicating investment recommendations to internal and external clients
