About The Position

The Equity & Community Outreach Manager is a managerial role focused on building an infrastructure to evaluate policy decisions through an equity lens, ensuring fair access to opportunities for all Alachua County residents. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including County departments and community members, to develop and implement innovative strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the community. The role requires strong leadership and vision to establish equity as a shared value across the organization and to advance the County's commitment to these principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in sociology, education, public administration, ethnic studies, social work, or a closely related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields such as sociology, education, or public administration.
• Valid Florida Driver License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
• Knowledge and competency in budget preparation and administration.
• Strong collaboration and coordination skills.
• Ability to analyze data and generate reports on equity issues.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in community engagement and outreach programs.
• Familiarity with equity impact assessments and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with County departments, employees, community members, and stakeholders to promote equity in Alachua County.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of subordinate employees, including determining work procedures and schedules.
• Identify disparities and systemic causes within County departments and the community.
• Oversee, design, coordinate, and implement programs aimed at addressing disparities in County services.
• Develop methods to document and evaluate disparate impacts and collect relevant data.
• Serve as the point of contact for community inquiries regarding equity issues in Alachua County.
• Attend community events to promote County programs and services.
• Establish and lead multi-departmental teams to advance equity plans across county government.
