About The Position

The Equipment Transport - Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient interstate transportation of heavy equipment, machinery, and materials to and from job sites, branch locations, or customer locations. This position requires expert driving skills, adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and the ability to operate specialized transport vehicles and trailers. Additionally, the driver will load and unload rental equipment and assist with local branch duties during non-driving time.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
  • 2+ years of commercial driving experience (interstate flatbed or heavy equipment hauling preferred).
  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with FMCSR 49 CFR 391.41-391.49
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Extended periods of sitting, driving, and standing as required.
  • Must be able to travel outside the local area and stay overnight as required.
  • Experience with load securement and safe equipment handling.
  • Quick learner, attention to detail, and the ability to accept directions and coaching
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, verbal and written, to enhance relationships with customers.
  • Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimize routes to be able to handle unexpected delays.
  • Ability to think and act quickly to resolve issues such as vehicle breakdowns or route changes while maintaining safety on the road.
  • Ability to adapt to the changing conditions, such as weather, traffic, and regulations per location, while ensuring safety and timely deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • SafelyoperateClass A commercial vehicles, including flatbeds, and other specialized trailers for equipment transport.
  • Load and unload trench shoring, shielding, and related rental equipment usingappropriate tie-down and securement methods.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections andmaintainaccuratedelivery logs.
  • Communicate with branch teams to coordinate equipment moves and optimize delivery schedules.
  • Maintain accurate logs, trip reports, and necessary documentation as required by federal, state, and company policies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, includingthe useof personal protective equipment and proper loading techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies.
  • Assist with yard or warehouse duties when not on the road, including cleaning, organizing, and staging equipment.
