About The Position

The Equipment Technician position at Best Equipment is responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks on municipal and contractor environmental equipment. This role requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with strong technical and mechanical aptitude. The Equipment Technician is expected to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Excellent problem-solving skills, a customer-focused attitude, and a strong ability to adhere to safety protocols are key to success in this position.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years’ experience in troubleshooting and repair of 12-volt electrical systems.
• Proficiency in hydraulic systems, including electric-over-hydraulic and air-over-hydraulic systems.
• Ability to perform precise and high-quality welding and fabrication work.
• Strong understanding of electrical theory and complex wiring schematics.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatic systems and mechanical principles.
• High mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
• Ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

Nice To Haves

• Journeyman Level certification preferred.
• Class 7/8 chassis experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance tasks on public works and municipal equipment, including troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Conduct welding and fabrication work as a key responsibility to ensure equipment functionality and durability.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in 12-volt electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.
• Read and interpret complex wiring schematics and electrical diagrams to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and repair.
• Ensure that all work is performed to meet safety and operational standards, including adhering to shop safety guidelines and participating in monthly safety meetings.
