About The Position

The Dry Ice Production Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing dry ice production equipment—including reformers, pelletizers, compressors, and related mechanical systems. This role does not require previous dry-ice equipment experience; extensive training will be provided. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance experience and is willing to learn and grow into a highly specialized role. This position will primarily work a mid-shift schedule (approximately 2:00 PM–10:00 PM), with occasional schedule variations based on production needs. Some on-call availability is required for urgent repairs or unplanned downtime.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical experience in industrial maintenance, repair, or equipment troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift and adjust schedule as needed.
  • On-call availability for urgent repair needs.
  • Ability to learn specialized systems through hands-on training.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work in cold environments and lift 50+ pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification, NATE Certification, HVAC/R Certification, R-410A Certification, or something similar
  • Forklift or industrial equipment maintenance experience.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, CO2 systems, or recovery units.
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.
  • Experience with maintenance software or automated equipment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Production Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pelletizers, reformers, compressors, hydraulic systems, conveyors, and other production equipment.
  • Learn to perform adjustments, rebuilds, and troubleshooting on specialized dry ice manufacturing machinery (training provided).
  • Assist with diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Replace and adjust dies, blades, belts, bearings, seals, sensors, and other critical components.
  • Tote, Facility & Additional Equipment Responsibilities Perform maintenance and minor repairs on dry ice storage totes, such as fixing wheels, lids, seals, hinges, handles, and structural components to ensure safe transport and product integrity.
  • Perform general building maintenance as needed (basic repairs, upkeep tasks, minor facility improvements).
  • Conduct forklift maintenance and minor repairs, coordinating major repairs with outside service vendors.
  • Clean, inspect, and perform basic maintenance on CO2 recovery units as part of routine plant operations.
  • Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment or production lines.
  • Maintenance Systems, Inventory & Automation Use maintenance management software (training provided) to log work orders, track repairs, and document equipment issues.
  • Assist with automation-related tasks, including sensor checks, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of automated systems.
  • Manage parts inventory levels, including tracking usage and restocking needs.
  • Submit parts orders and obtain required approvals for purchasing.
  • Maintain an organized system for parts storage and documentation.
  • Shift, Travel & On-Call Expectations Work primarily during a mid-shift (~2 PM–10 PM), adjusting as needed for maintenance windows, shutdowns, or special projects.
  • Respond to urgent repair needs on an on-call basis when equipment failures occur outside normal hours.
  • Occasionally travel to other Emory Dry Ice plants to provide maintenance support, assist with repairs, help during outages, or participate in equipment installations.
  • Coordinate with production management to schedule work around production demands.
  • Training & Skill Development Participate in hands-on training with internal experts and equipment manufacturers.
  • Develop proficiency with reformers, pelletizers, CO2 recovery units, and associated automated systems over time.
  • Complete all required safety and equipment training programs.
  • Operations & Production Support Support production during equipment start-up, shutdown, and post-repair testing.
  • Collaborate with plant managers to identify recurring issues and participate in long-term solutions.
  • Assist in installation, configuration, and commissioning of new production lines or equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance Strictly adhere to OSHA guidelines, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and all company safety policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces.
  • Report hazards, equipment failures, or potential risks immediately.
  • Documentation & Reporting Keep detailed logs of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and part replacements.
  • Document findings in maintenance software to ensure accurate repair history and planning.
  • Contribute updates and improvements in maintenance-related SOPs.
