About The Position

The Equipment Technician II is primarily responsible for acting as the equipment maintenance technician, performing scheduled and demand preventive/predictive equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of process and facility equipment. This role is crucial for delivering 24/7 maintenance support to the facility. Additionally, the Mechanical Equipment Technician will offer technical support in the design, installation, and qualification of new or modified process or facility equipment.

Requirements

  • Four years experience in manufacturing facility maintenance.
  • Problem solving, troubleshooting, and repair skills for a wide variety of systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic, reactors, control valves, pumps, etc.
  • Welding, pipefitting, construction, basic electrical knowledge, and machining skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with Maintenance Department objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with operators, engineers, contractors, and vendor representatives.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency maintenance requests on off-shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in maintenance of chemical process equipment.
  • Associates degree in skilled trades curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Performs or arranges for preventive and demand maintenance on a wide variety of equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and process equipment.
  • Supports reliability-centered maintenance program(s) at the site by performing or coordinating completion of predictive maintenance activities such as equipment vibration analysis, oil/lubricant analysis, ultrasonic thickness or other non-destructive testing, infrared heat mapping, etc.
  • Conducts and documents activities in a manner that maintains facility compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP), process safety management (PSM), and other applicable regulations.
  • Provides maintenance expertise in support of manufacturing investigations, failure and root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action planning and execution.
  • Strictly follows all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures and supports efforts to improve facility EHS performance.
  • Attends all required training and complies with the responsibilities associated with the maintenance technician position as detailed in the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conducts maintenance-related training sessions as required.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (I/O, sensors, actuators, communication faults) to minimize downtime.
  • Calibrate and verify field instrumentation (proximity sensors, photoeyes, encoders, pressure/temperature transmitters).
  • Document work in CMMS (e.g., Maximo) including failure codes, corrective actions, and parts usage.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
