Meet the Team : The Equipment Technician team at Dexcom plays a vital role in keeping our manufacturing and R&D equipment operating safely, reliably, and at peak performance. You’ll work alongside skilled technicians, engineers, and leaders in a collaborative environment focused on problem‑solving, continuous improvement, and innovation. Every day, your work directly supports the production of life‑changing CGM technology—and positively impacts the lives of people around the world. Where You Come In : You are responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing, production, and R&D equipment, ranging from standard laboratory tools to fully automated systems. You support equipment reliability by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and electronic components within regulated manufacturing environments. You prepare, update, and maintain equipment documentation, including online equipment files, document databases, Equipment Binders, and Equipment Request programs. You perform Installation Qualifications (IQs) and support FDA-regulated protocols and internal process validations. You participate in equipment-related project work, including duplicating equipment, implementing improvements, and supporting continuous process optimization. You follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Dexcom safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to ensure compliance and safe operations. You collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and external vendors to ensure equipment, processes, and electronics remain safe, functional, and production-ready. Functional Description You support engineering activities such as design, testing, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical and electronic systems. You work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, written instructions, and verbal guidance to perform testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation. You conduct operational testing and assist in identifying root causes and corrective actions for system and equipment malfunctions. You assist in the design, construction, and verification of specialized test equipment and experimental systems. You utilize a wide range of manufacturing, test, and diagnostic tools, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, test programs, photonics equipment, and specialized test apparatus.

Requirements

  • You have hands-on knowledge and experience working with PLCs and automated production/process equipment, including pneumatics, hydraulics, electro‑mechanical systems, resistance welders, and packaging equipment.
  • You are experienced in conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on Production, Manufacturing, and R&D equipment, including maintaining fixtures, modules, and tooling.
  • You bring strong troubleshooting and repair skills for manufacturing equipment and automated systems in a production environment.
  • You can perform equipment development activities with minimal supervision, following direction from project engineers, including equipment assembly and testing.
  • You have experience maintaining equipment in high‑volume manufacturing environments, preferably within an FDA‑regulated setting.
  • Your background includes equipment maintenance, equipment assembly, and general shop skills that support efficient operations.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and possess strong general computer skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience and a High School diploma/certificate or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • You have working knowledge of control systems and PLC programming, which is considered a strong plus.
  • You bring an Associate degree, technical school certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • You conduct preventive and reparative maintenance on Production, Manufacturing, and R&D equipment lines, including fixtures, modules, and tooling.
  • You maintain and author Equipment Binders, maintenance documentation, and IQs, while supporting replacement parts management.
  • You troubleshoot and repair manufacturing and automated systems to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • You work closely with engineers and equipment manufacturers to sustain safe, compliant, and functional equipment and processes.
  • You operate hand tools, power tools, multimeters, amp meters, calipers, and manufacturing test equipment as required.
  • You perform equipment development activities with minimal supervision, including equipment assembly, testing, engineering studies, and validation work.
  • You comply with Dexcom’s Safety policies and LOTO program at all times.
  • You are available to work any assigned shift based on business needs.
  • You perform additional duties as assigned to support operational and engineering objectives.
