Job Summary Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant equipment and the entire generating unit. Performs duties involving mechanical and electrical maintenance Job Description Inspects, repairs, and maintains various types of plant electrical, electronic, and electromechanical equipment. This equipment includes motors, alternators, breakers, generators, burner management, battery systems, communication, valve actuators, and various other devices. Is required to show initiative in area of responsibility. Key Roles & Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others. Understands basic AC/DC Circuit Theory, Digital and Analog Circuit Theory, Power Plant Cycle Theory, and Mechanics. Inspects, tests, repairs, and installs plant electrical equipment such as leads, buses, breakers, batteries, motors, generators, lighting, winterizing, cathodic protection, elevators, cranes, electrical switches, relay control generators, lighting, winterizing, cathodic protection, elevators, cranes, electrical switches, relay control systems, excitation systems, and including electronic equipment such as annunciators, recorders, communications systems, uninterruptable power supplies, battery chargers, turbine supervisory systems, and electronic logic controllers, both analog and digital. Builds cable and raceway systems and bends and installs conduit. Pulls and routes control and power cables through raceways, cable trays and conduits. Terminates cables and checks for continuity and accuracy. Properly conducts low, medium, and high voltage switching, clearing and grounding activities for all plant auxiliary equipment. Locates, analyzes and corrects malfunctions of electrical and electronic equipment. Performs switchboard work such as wiring new electrical and electronic devices. Acquires a variety of skills to support electrical and electronic activity such as (1) use of computers for communications and research, (2) electrical schematic and blueprint interpretation and analysis, (3) use of code and reference books and specifications, (4) use of precision instruments for electrical, pressure and temperature measurements, (5) precision measuring tools for mechanical fit and shaft alignment, (6) nondestructive examination, (7) welding and cutting, (8) rigging, (9) painting, (10) mechanical drive units, and (11) hydraulics and pneumatics, etc. Assists in the keeping of records on electrical and electronic equipment, including inspections and overhaul reports. Makes effective use of the maintenance planning tools. Complies with safety regulations established by regulatory agencies, the Safety Handbook and supervision. Complies with environmental regulations established by regulatory agencies, Company policy and supervision Bargaining unit position represented by IBEW 2337. Hourly rate $48.77

Requirements

  • High School education or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of related experience (Working as an electrician/related fields/classroom education)
  • All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position.
  • POSS / MASS exams are administered on an as-needed basis by Human Resources and all communication concerning the testing is sent to the candidate's email address provided during the application process.
